Which are the best beaches in Goa? Is it in North Goa or South Goa? If you have exactly 3 minutes, I am about to help you find the answers through my experiences. I explore my experiences of the things to do in Goa across the beaches, and also help you find the right beach for your enjoyment. So go ahead, and let me know if this piece helped you plan your Goa trip.
Goa is this little paradise on the south west coast of India that has lovely beaches, pristine forests, thundering waterfalls and a lot of other cultural places that showcases the long historical past of the Goan Hindus, recent Portuguese remnants and the lovely fusion food that has evolved over the years. Goa was initially called Govapuri or Gopakapattana. After the Portugese invaded the Bijapur dynasty’s rule in the place, they renamed it to Goa Velha.
I first went there in 2006 and have kept going to the place over the years to find peace, contentment, excitement and a sense of freedom. I have listed the numbers/rankings of the beaches, and have listed the reasons for that right below. Lets cut to the chase, shall we?
Best Beaches in North Goa
-
1) Keri/Querim Beach
The beach here is quiet, does not get too many visitors owing to the distance. Public transport is available and so are taxis to/from Keri Beach. Also the lack of great stay options means the tourist has no business here except for a quick day trip. The beach has lifeguards, great food and interesting people to meet. If you are here in Goa to enjoy a quiet day by the beach, this should be on your list. If you also like to minor treks and walk inside the village, this village is truly reminiscent of Goa in the days of yore.
You can meanwhile catch a quick grab of the 20 things you can do in North Goa, around Keri/Querim Beach

1) Cola Beach
You can also choose to walk across and head to Chota Cola, if you have the time. The beach gives a lot of quiet time and privacy, away from the crowds. So if you fancy reading a book, without any hawkers disturbing you, but still staying 5 minutes away from food/drinks at Cola, this beach stretch should be your pick.
Cola beach can be reached via a trek from Agonda. Discover the feeling of what it feels to suddenly see Cola beach’s beauty from the top.

3) Agonda Beach
You could read some of my older detailed posts on Agonda, as you find out why Agonda beach is rated so highly. It has a beautiful beach with peaceful vibes, and is a hub to visit some interesting beaches nearby like the following
A trek from Agonda across a lake and a hill to get to Cola Beach
Life across 2 interesting hotels to stay in Agonda. Manveer’s Kitchen (Earlier called as Forget-Me-Not Resort) and Jardim-a-Mar
You can plan an interesting day trip to nearby coastal villages in Goa/Karnataka through the passenger train dotting the Konkan Stretch OR visit the incredibly desolate butterfly beach by a boat, which also passes by Honeymoon Island or you could go by road to the beach
You could saunter around Agonda to discover Fatima’s for breakfast
You could choose to get on a 2 wheeler to explore beached beyond Palolem further south of the state like Rajbaga-Talpona (with a pitstop at the artsy ‘The Space’), the beautiful and serene villages of Sadolxem-Galjibaga OR find yourself exploring a fort called ‘Cabo De Rama’, where Rama and Sita spent some time during their exile. Near the fort is a beautiful hotel right below the mountainous plateau called ‘The Cape’, post which is a beautiful beach called Cabo-De-Rama beach.
